FOLLOW YOUR SPIRITUAL PATH

It's been said that during our moments of enlightenment we think we are human beings having a spiritual experience, but in reality, while we are living in the world, we are actually spiritual beings having a human experience. This is a valuable concept worth meditating on for as we've stated before, we do not have a soul, rather we are the soul and our daily life is our school for awakening more of our spiritual awareness.
Through our daily experiences we are given opportunities to learn more about our spiritual identity as we are faced with every day choices. Do we remember to be compassionate in our interaction with others or do we allow our subconscious' emotional reactions to consume us, swept away by anger or judgment? Every time we make a decision based on compassion, we are opening our awareness to our true spiritual essence and increasing our ability to express our Divine connection. This does not mean we should suppress our emotions for our inner child, the subconscious, will always have an emotional response to life. But because the soul has a free will, we have the ability to choose if we want to allow that emotion to be expressed or if we need to communicate in a different way. For example, if our subconscious is angry about something, instead of shouting at the person involved, we're better off walking away to cool down first. When our subconscious has calmed down, the soul can consciously think about the situation to see how it can be resolved. Then we can go back to that person and communicate with them instead of arguing which will always be more effective.
All too often, we have allowed our subconscious to run our lives instead of making a conscious effort to direct our lives from our soul's spiritual point of view. When we've basically left the "child" in charge we are often under stress, involved in relationships that aren't working well, our health suffers and our overall ability to cope with life is limited. We find ourselves in all kinds of stressful situations and when we finally do wake up and get conscious, we often say, "What was I thinking?" You weren't. You went unconscious and allowed the little kid to make the decisions. Although the subconscious does the best it can, it's like leaving a child home alone without supervision. The disharmony in our lives reflects this situation. But as soon as the soul takes charge, our lives begin to change for we can now give our subconscious the guidance and direction it needs to improve life.
Meditation is a very effective tool for awakening our spiritual awareness. There are many ways in which to meditate, but basically meditation is thinking about something. Keeping our mind focused on one idea gives us a greater understanding about any subject. The more able we are to quiet ourselves, whether that's sitting still long enough to even think about something or letting go of other thoughts that are coming to mind, the more effective our meditations will be. These are skills that we include in our Arche Meditation Retreat before moving into deeper meditations.
Reflecting on our daily life and making choices based from the soul's perspective helps us follow our spiritual path. When we express our highest truth and stay true to our spiritual ideas we strengthen our spiritual foundation. For one person expressing their highest truth may mean they've grown enough to know they no longer punch someone in the nose, while for another person, their highest truth may mean they are no longer prejudiced and are able to view humanity with compassion. Both choices move the individual towards greater spiritual development. Too often we are swayed by other people's opinions, which may limit our growth. We must become comfortable with trusting our own spiritual insights and express from that level. Keep in mind, expressing our highest spiritual truth does not mean preaching to others about our religious viewpoints, but rather living our spirituality in our daily lives. Religion is the form of worship that we choose which will be an individual choice for each person. Spirituality is expressing our Divine connection on a constant basis.
So make spirituality a priority in your life and all else will fall into place. Something is always missing until we reawaken our Divine connection for the world will never be enough for the soul. Living and expressing as a spiritual being will make our lives complete filled with purpose and direction, serenity and peace and the comfort, bliss and enlightenment of Divine Love to guide us on our path, both in the world and in the spirit.
