THE TRUE BLESSING OF CHRISTMAS

     Christmas can be a time of great joy for the soul and a delight for our subconscious if we plan our holiday season using the ideals we've been reviewing over the past few months. For we deserve a celebration filled with the peace, beauty and joy that the Christmas message offers us as well as the magic that can be found surrounded by friends and family, good food, music, festive holiday decorations and an overall atmosphere of love.
     For the Christmas message symbolizes our own spiritual journey, the story of the soul as it comes into an understanding of itself as a child of God. It is the soul's awakening to its own Divine inheritance, the birth of the Christ consciousness within. This was not an isolated incident reserved exclusively for Jesus the Christ, rather an example set forth by Jesus to demonstrate the path that each soul must journey to find its way back to God. The Christ consciousness within; our soul's realization that it can and must follow a path of Divine Love. For Christ means Divine Love and the soul who begins to express this type of love, a love for all humanity, unlimited, unconditional, completely free from all judgments, criticism and prejudice, truly feels it has given birth to its own Divine expression.
     For up to this point, the soul has lain dormant, confused by the limitations of the world. But our Divine nature urges us forward, and the soul yearns for more than the world has to offer. Through our longing for a higher expression, we begin a cleansing process becoming more selective about what we choose to participate in and removing ourselves from activities that no longer fit into our new way of thinking. When we begin to view humanity as a whole, motivated by love and compassion, the soul has given birth to the Christ consciousness within and our spiritual journey takes on a new urgency and intensity.
     We like who we are when we express from this level of consciousness and seek to do so on a more consistent basis. For from this perspective, the soul awakens to remember its connection with all humanity and realizes that all are deserving of our love.
     So does this mean we will now get along with all people? Absolutely not. For although the soul is capable of extending Divine Love to everyone, our subconscious is not. Our subconscious will still have likes and dislikes, people it gets along with and others it needs to stay away from. This is not wrong or negative; it is simply natural. Our soul now strives to surround our subconscious with people of our choice, people of a like nature and begins to instruct the subconscious on how to handle people who are out of our comfort zone, those not in harmony with our highest goals.
     As for the subconscious, Christmas can be a time of childlike wonder and magic. Imagine if you had a three or four year old child visiting you this holiday season. What would you do differently to make sure the child had a great experience? How busy would you allow your schedule to be? What extra activities would you include? What special decorations would you put up? What kind of pace would you set for yourself, taking the child's limitations into consideration?
     Now provide the same holiday for your own child, your subconscious. And don't put a limit on joyful expression. Let go of your resistance, lighten up and allow the spirit of the season to enchant you.
Plan some special activities, events only offered at this time of year. Attend a holiday play or enjoy a performance of The Nutcracker Ballet. Listen to a Christmas choir and let yourself be swept away by the magnificence of the voices and the grandeur of the music. Spend a few minutes watching children visit with Santa. Their faces are priceless. Their joy is contagious. Make time to enjoy the animated holiday windows. Realize how important these simple moments are, for the subconscious is really just a kid at heart and loves when we allow it special time.
     Decorate your Christmas tree and invite friends and family to help. Make it fun, not a task. Listen to Christmas music, dance and sing, drink hot chocolate, share favorite memories. Relax and enjoy the moment.
Look for the beauty in each experience and be there to enjoy it. For we sometimes miss great portions of our life, forgetting to pay attention to something wonderful happening right before our eyes.
Remember what we've reviewed in the past few months regarding stress. Schedule your time wisely, keeping a healthy, well-balanced pace. For most people are exceptionally stressed out at this time of year, overworked and overwhelmed, but we need not participate in their chaos.
     And finally, spend some quiet time each evening, relaxing in front of the Christmas tree and allow the warm rainbow of soft lights to put you at ease. Instruct your subconscious to let go of all other thoughts of the day and simply enjoy the peacefulness of the moment. Meditate on the real meaning of Christmas and reflect on how you manifest Divine Love in your life. Think of circumstances where you could express this Christ consciousness even more fully. Then applaud yourself and acknowledge all the ways you already extend this great Love.
     For the true blessing of Christmas manifests when we finally allow both our soul and our subconscious to express and rejoice in the beauty of their individual expressions. Our soul is free to express its highest spiritual nature and extends its greatest gift of Love to the planet, while our subconscious expresses the beauty of its childlike wonder, innocence and enjoyment of life. Just as all of nature already demonstrates in its simplicity, we finally reveal our own greatest splendor, simply by being ourselves. In this way, we truly Glorify God!
     So give yourself the gift of a beautiful holiday season this year and enjoy the true blessings of Christmas all year long.
